About Our Presenters:

Joan Nimmo, LCSW, Care Consultant/Director of Professional Education, Hudson Valley, NY Chapter Alzheimer’s Association. Joan has been working with people with dementia plus their caregivers for over 20 years, including a private practice in New York City and in the Berkshires. Joan was an adjunct professor at Berkshire Community College. She has worked with elders in the community, assisted living and nursing home milieu.
Jason Cohen, MD, Board Certified Neurologist. Dr Cohen is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. He is now based at Montefiore’s multidisciplinary Center for the Aging Brain and is part of a team working to diagnose and manage cognitive decline in older adults.  His research interests include the relationship between gait and cognitive dysfunction, caregiver stress, and primary progressive aphasia. The work of Dr Cohen and the Montefiore team is supported by a Center of Excellence in Alzheimer Disease grant from NY State.
