Improving Parkinson’s Disease One Voice at a Time

The Kensington Reston is excited to partner with the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area (PFNCA) to provide support to families living with the disease. Through this partnership, we offer the PFNCA Communication Club. The Club is a weekly speech-focused program that promotes wellness and prevention for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. Discussions focus upon maintaining communication skills and stress the importance of speaking louder to be heard in social settings.

To kick off the PFNCA Communication Club, The Kensington Reston and PFNCA hosted a special virtual event. Dr. Codrin Lungu from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) presented on the latest Parkinson’s research along with a Q&A. We also heard from Susan Wranik, MS, MA, CCC-SLP regarding the benefits of participating in weekly communication exercises.

Our Commuication Club will be held weekly on Tuesdays from 2-3pm, led by Susan Wranik, a licensed speech-language pathologist. Click here to register. In the spirit of health and safety, our Communication Club will be held virtually until further notice.

Keep in mind that the PFNCA Communication Club is not therapy; it is a group approach to applying exercises and skills to help enhance communication skills. To learn more about PFNCA, visit pfnca.org
